For our song of the week this week, we’ve got The Stanley Brothers, Ralph and Carter featuring Ralph on lead vocals and banjo doing their version of the cornerstone song of O Brother Where Art Thou – The Man of Constant Sorrow. The Stanley Brothers were one of the preeminent bluegrass and old timey Appalachian music bands of the 1950’s and 60’s – the heyday of bluegrass music. Carter died in 1966 but Ralph continues to occasionally perform to this day with The Clinch Mountain Boys, the backing band they formed in the late 40’s. Stanley sang a couple songs off the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack, though this song was not one of them, and won a Grammy for his performance of O Death. Consider this post foreshadowing to a big upcoming announcement from us!
